      Limitations for Etsy product listing

      Etsy Product Information

      • Quantity: Etsy permits a maximum of 999 units for each individual product and allows up to 10 mockup images to showcase your item.

      • Description:

        • The description field cannot be left blank.

        • The description cannot be longer than 102,400 characters.

        • HTML tags are prohibited in product descriptions. Please note that descriptions may look different on Etsy than they do on your storefront; however, you can edit them directly within Etsy.

        • All text must be formatted using standard ASCII characters and encoded in UTF-8.

      • Title:

        • The title can contain a maximum of 140 characters.

        • Titles should always start with a letter or a number; special characters, including quotation marks, cannot be used as the initial character.

        • Titles must begin with a letter or number and should not have a leading space.

        • The characters % and : & are permitted, but each may only appear once in your title.

        • The use of the following characters is not allowed: dollar sign ($), caret (^), backtick (`), and degree symbol (°).

        • Titles should not have more than three words that are fully capitalized.

        • Incorporate both uppercase and lowercase letters in your titles for better readability and appeal.

      Etsy Variations

      • Etsy allows each variation attribute, such as Size or Color, to have a maximum of 20 characters.

      • Etsy supports a maximum of two dropdown menus for product variations.

      • Each dropdown menu can hold up to 70 distinct values, such as various color options. However, the total number of variants for a product is capped at 400. This total is determined by multiplying the available options together; for example, if you offer 20 color choices and 5 size options, the total number of variants would be 100.

      • To successfully publish a product, you must select all possible combinations of the options you offer. For example, if your posters are available in sizes 30x40 cm and 70x100 cm, you need to include both vertical and horizontal orientations for each size. This ensures that customers have a complete range of product choices to select from.

      Etsy Tags

      • You are allowed to include up to 13 unique tags for your product.

      • Tags must be unique; repetition of tags is not permitted.

      • Tags must be 20 characters or fewer in length.

      • Tags can consist only of letters, numbers, hyphens, single quotation marks, spaces, and underscores.

      • Product prices should be set between 0.20 USD and 50,000 USD, or the equivalent amount in your local currency.

      • SKUs (Stock Keeping Units) can have a maximum length of 32 characters.

      Etsy Apparel Items

      Because Etsy restricts the use of HTML in product descriptions, size guides cannot be directly included for apparel items. To share size information, you may copy and paste the appropriate size guides from our Product Catalog.

      Modifying SKUs for connected products is not advisable, as it carries risks that may lead to irreversible consequences. Changing the SKU values can impact the internal identifiers associated with those products, potentially resulting in the disconnection of the product from its listings. Proceed with caution if you choose to make such changes.
